The Best Time to Visit SUMMIT One Vanderbilt

Sunset, daytime or night at SUMMIT: what each looks like, when to book a sunset slot, sunset times by month, and SUMMIT's opening hours.

Updated October 2026

Book about an hour before sunset if you want daylight, dusk and the city lights in one visit; book a weekday morning if you want fewer people and the lowest price. SUMMIT is open from 8am to midnight, with last entry at 10:30pm, and sells timed tickets for every half hour (checked October 2026).

Day, sunset or night?

  • Daytime. The clearest long views, out to the harbor and New Jersey on a good day. The mirror rooms get very bright in full sun, and SUMMIT itself suggests bringing sunglasses. Mornings on weekdays are the quietest slots and the cheapest.
  • Sunset. The most popular time and the most expensive. Book a slot about an hour before sunset: the 91st-floor rooms take 30 minutes to an hour by SUMMIT’s own timings, and you want to be at the Levitation ledges or on the 93rd-floor terrace when the sun goes down.
  • Night. The skyline lights double in the mirrors, and Affinity’s silver orbs look their best. The last entry is at 10:30pm.

Weekdays, weekends and weather

SUMMIT prices by time slot, so weekend and sunset slots cost more than weekday daytime ones. Most of SUMMIT is indoors, so a grey day still works for the mirror rooms; it is the long views from Levitation and the terrace that suffer. If the forecast is poor, a free-cancellation ticket lets you move to a clearer day up to 24 hours before your slot.
